The new set of rules entitled ‘Recommendations for condition assessment and quality evaluation of public transport infrastructure’ has recently been published by the FGSV (Research Association for Road and Transport) and can be ordered from the FGSV.
Our colleague Florian Bauer (authorised signatory and head of the survey department) played a key role in drafting the regulations and was able to contribute his many years of experience in the field of quality assessments for public transport.
The FGSV working group (which included transport operators and consultants in addition to public transport authorities) has spent the last few years developing this 68-page set of rules to enable public transport companies to analyse the status quo of quality based on standards. It also identifies appropriate courses of action for improving public transport services. The set of rules describes in detail how quality assessments of stops and stations are to be carried out. This applies to both public transport stops and stations in regional rail transport and also outlines a wide variety of procedures.
Quality assurance in public transport plays a key role today and will continue to do so in the future: meeting high quality standards and embedding ‘quality’ in the DNA of a transport company is one of the key prerequisites for successful and sustainable public transport.
PB CONSULT has many years of expertise in the field of quality assessments for large, medium-sized and small public transport companies. This allows us to respond specifically to the respective needs and requirements of transport companies. In addition, the Benchmark Q-Barometer is conducted every two years, with a double-digit number of transport companies in German-speaking countries regularly participating.
