Track and road construction Nuremberg
Track and road construction Nuremberg
In the area around Nuremberg’s main railway station, the tracks of three tram lines need to be renewed after a long period of use. The construction area extends along several streets in the immediate vicinity of Nuremberg’s main railway station. For this purpose, existing tracks and surface pavements must first be dismantled and then reconstructed. A total of approx. 2,200 m² of road surface, both in full construction and as pure surface treatment (renewal of binder and surface course) will be implemented, as well as approx. 1,000 m of double track (incl. points) will be replaced and realised as a solid carriageway (in-situ concrete and mastic asphalt pavement). In the construction area, there are also two tram stops as well as traffic islands and pedestrian and bicycle crossings that have to be made barrier-free in the course of the measure.

The construction site is particularly characterised by a high number of involved sectoral and construction load bearers as well as by cramped space conditions. In order to maintain traffic flow as far as possible, extensive traffic safety measures and the construction of temporary roadways are unavoidable. Due to the geographical location and historical significance of the Glockenhof construction area, all civil engineering works are accompanied by specialist firms for explosive ordnance detection and archaeology.
