Renovation of Concrete Beams In Nuremberg Underground Station

Upon the successful renovation of the concrete longitudinal beams in multiple underground stations and tunnel sections of lines U1 and U2 in 2016 – 2019, PB Consult was again commissioned with the tasks of project management support, local supervision of construction works and project documentation of the renovation of the concrete longitudinal beams in 2020.

In 2020, the project involves the sections between the underground stations Hasenbuck and Frankenstraße and it was completed during the time with low usage between 9pm and 4am from September until October 2017 and from January to February 2018. In addition to the renovation of all damaged concrete areas, specific compound anchors were used to stabilise the structure.

By applying this process, it was possible to perform the construction works in parallel, thus reducing the time required for the construction and the associated maintenance tasks to a minimum and avoiding a complete closure of the lines. For the second half of 2018, PB CONSULT was commissioned with the renovation of the concrete longitudinal beams of the underground station below the main train station.
