Mobility concept Haus der Statistik Berlin

In order to redistribute the limited inner-city space in favour of alternative and environmentally friendly transport systems, appropriate concepts and offers must be developed to promote alternative systems. Especially neighbourhoods within highly dense urban locations are confronted with a multitude of partly diverging demands regarding the utilisation concepts of the available spaces.

The aim is to improve the overall quality of life and stay in urban areas that are coming under increasing pressure, to reduce emissions and to distribute land fairly.

This approach is reflected in the progressive target concept for the BP procedure for the redevelopment of the “Haus der Statistik” site. The neighbourhood, which is centrally located north of Alexanderplatz in the Berlin-Mitte district, was planned and designed by PB Consult as a low-car or largely car-free neighbourhood.
