PB CONSULT manages pioneering pilot project for VGN eTarif

We are very pleased to have been commissioned by the Verkehrsverbund Großraum Nürnberg (VGN) to be part of a groundbreaking project. As project coordinator, we will be responsible for bringing all the threads of the partners involved together and making it a success. In addition to DB Vertrieb, which has been commissioned for the system development for a network-wide electronic fare, the agency ercas for communication measures, WVI Prof. Dr. Wermuth Verkehrsforschung und Infrastrukturplanung GmbH for customer surveys, evaluation and monitoring as well as the Fraunhofer Institute for Transport and Infrastructure Systems for the digital mapping of the eTariff through a fare module are also fixed as partners in the pilot project.

The aim of the pilot project is to enable a fundamentally new fare and distribution system that is significantly more convenient and transparent for passengers. Customers in the VGN network area should be able to start their journey without having to buy a ticket beforehand. In addition, they will be able to calculate their travel costs in advance, based on a combined model of distance travelled, basic daily fare, air fare and attractive discount levels. This means not only transparent cost control, but also more felxibility, as there will also no longer be any tariff zones in the VGN eTarif.
