Impact of Coronavirus on Mobility Behaviour
The mobility behaviour of Nuremberg’s population has been examined in KONTIV-Design since 1989, by PB Consult from 2016. With this kind of survey, complex activity patterns for specific dates which are distributed equally over the year are determined. With the emergence of the coronavirus, VAG Nürnberg now has to face unexpected challenges just like any other public transport organisation. With the necessary measures taken to contain the disease, the mobility of the residents of Nuremberg in March and April 2020 was restricted massively, causing fundamental changes. Meanwhile, a step-by-step easing of measures is happening. For VAG Nürnberg it is essential to observe the stages of adoption regarding mobility behaviour to be able to determine changes in comparison to the time before corona. Resilient empirical facts are critical to determine and take timely and appropriate measures to promote public transport in Nuremberg. We will survey this starting now in addition to the current continuous surveys.
